Dusty Miller
Senecio cineraria

Originally from the Mediterranean region, Dusty Miller has pale green to white velvet-like foliage and is a hardy perennial in Zones 9-10 but must be grown as an annual in zones 3-8. Grow in full sun with average soil and do not over water.

Propagation is easy from seeds offered from the GreenDealer Exotic Seeds collection. Sow seeds indoors during the winter and set young plants out after all danger of frost has passed.

Other plants are also called "Dusty Miller", and to complicate things, there is another plant from the Canary Islands of the Senecio genus who's species is cruentus but it is called "Cineraria" as a common name. It does not look like the specimen shown here. The first person who can email me the name of this plant (not the other species from the Canary Islands) in Spanish may have a FREE packet of Dusty Miller seeds. Please use these photos to make sure the identification is correct.

Specimen was photographed in the Highlands, Louisville, Kentucky on December 2, 1998.
