Colorado Blue Spruce
Picea pungens

An evergreen conifer from the Western United States. Growth of horizontal branches forms a pyramidal form that can reach 50 ft. in height. Rigid spiny foliage is bluish green. Other varieties may have silver-white or dull green foliage. Hardy in Zones 3-7.

The young 5 or 6 year old specimen shown at top left was photographed in December 1998 in Louisville, Kentucky. The other two photographs of mature trees were taken in Louisville in the summer of 1999.
